Well, well, well, The Internet, you finally found me. As you may have noticed this is remix.net. I have lived in Santa Cruz, California for the last 7 years. Before that I lived in a cave, in the mountians where I practiced thrice daily the art of Unix of which I'm a 0x0Fth Dan Blackbelt. I can code and debug system problems blind folded, I eat octets for hexfast.
For fun I program audio DSP, I invented the simu-scratch technique by writing the world's first multi-sample scratching application ammobox. I started the LiveAPI Project that documented and provided access to Ableton Live's secret Python API.
I also do fun things like hacking dictionaries and write parsers.
I like to volunteer as well, recent activities have been teaching a Lego class at a local elementary school and have been helping a public radio station navigate the complexities of emulated AS/400 databases.
What's New
I've been working on video programming lately, learning the ins and outs of MPEG transport streams, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 codecs. This is mostly related to my interest in home theater software such as XBMC, although I've been derailing slightly to explore some of the more creative aspects aspects of video editing.
I recently spent a month and a half in Chennai, India. It was a great trip where I made many new friends and got to see a completely different slice of life from what I'm used to. Biggest cultural difference? Indian food in India is far less creamy than in America. Also, lots of people speaking Tamil. Here's more information on My Trip To India.
I've also been working a little bit on Parsing.
